A Call to Worship
The Lord’s call to worship is a call to give your very self to Him (Romans 12:1). He’s worthy of your life (Isaiah 43:7).
A mystery of the gospel is that in giving your life to God, He gives you life in return (Matthew 16:24-25). The life He gives you in return is surpassingly better because it is His very life, His Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14). In giving Him the only acceptable sacrifice–a broken, humble, submissive heart–you find your soul’s One True Lover (Psalm 51:17, Isaiah 66:2, Revelation 3:20; Song of Songs 3:4, Ephesians 5:24-28). Ephesians 5:28 reveals that Christ’s love of us is Him loving Himself because we bear His name. Therefore, His love for us is not contrary to His worthiness and holiness but actually the substance of it. His nature is His glory and His nature is love (Hebrews 1:3, 1 John 4:8). His truth AND His grace are both His glory (1 John 1:14). His name AND His goodness are both His glory (Exodus 33:18-19). He is one.
Our worship is based on faith that He is who He says He is: Jesus Christ the exalted One, the risen One, the humble One, the true Sacrifice, the last Adam, our Bridegroom.
Does your soul know Him as such? True worship flows from a revelation of His presence, of Him being who He says He is (2 Corinthians 4:6, John 1:4, 16-18, Joshua 5:14-15, Job 42:1-6, Isaiah 6:1-8, Malachi 3:3, Revelation 4:3-11, Revelation 7:9-12).
